Finally, after several months of development and an unprecedented effort by the Glioblastoma.IT ODV volunteers, from today the Glioblastoma Navigator service, reachable at the web address https://navigator.glioblastomamultiforme.it, is also active with functions for specialists i.e. doctors and researchers.

In the few days since the launch of the features for patients and caregivers, several people have already signed up but it is essential that many patient profiles could be entered because only in this way will we be able to use machine learning and add the last component necessary to make the SuperMind fully effective, i.e. computers and artificial intelligence. Below is a course explaining the specialist-specific features that allow you to add specialist centres, clinical trials and respond to consultation requests.

The functionalities available to all patients and caregivers have been illustrated in the tutorial reported in the article “Gliobalstoma Navigator: A Supermind to Fight Glioblastoma Together“. Please register and use it immediately. The success of the system and the possibility of applying advanced statistics and machine learning methods to the data collected depend on the quantity and quality of the information entered. Like all computer systems, Glioblastoma Navigator will also need a run-in period. For patients, the Glioblastoma Navigator allows to anonymously enter information about the brain tumor, including characteristics, mutations, therapies followed, and significant events. Patients can view the history of their tumor and receive suggestions on the nearest specialized centers where to go for individual therapies. Furthermore, patients can access information on active clinical trials and receive personalized advice on the path of care to be evaluated together with the team of doctors who follow them.

For clinicians and researchers, the Glioblastoma Navigator allows to gather information on large numbers of patients with glioblastoma, provide insights into specific cases, and indirectly recruit patients with suitable characteristics for pending or ongoing clinical trials. Indeed, Glioblastoma Navigator works like a virtual trial, collecting data from patients and using it to find statistically significant correlations.

After an initial phase in which we will improve the functionality of Glioblastoma Navigator, new features and services will be added and integrated in order to offer an increasingly important contribution to fight glioblastoma and high-grade brain tumors.
